    I love this mower. Older machines have an aura that is completely missing in newer models. My 1954 Yazoo 60" mower was the first to be able to turn around its own front tyre axis with a single steering rear wheel and a transaxle with two wheels in front. It is a real beast and I love to use it once a week in our English-style park.

    Had some bad experiences with those pulleys getting rusted to the spindles. Worst one was where the pulley and the spindle were of an odd size, so both _had_ to be saved. Cutting was out of the question, heat was not enough, and puller was starting to mess up the pulley. Ended up plugging up the grease port at the top, then welding on a steel cap with another grease zerk in it over the end (welded to the pulley). After everything cooled off that cap got pumped full of grease and finally enough pressure got built up that it forced the pulley off the shaft. Grease got re-used for actual grease-y purposes later, so no waste there.

    After taking off the carrier plate, you will see @ 2m:59s, a square headed bolt. Provided one has easy access, that is the correct point of access to properly drain the oil sump. Once a year, I removed carrier plate to easily remove and replace lawn mowers blades. At the same time, I remove sump plug and drain oil out. By the time oil has completely drained out, I have already replaced the 4x lawn mower blades on carrier plate, then re-attached oil sump plug and then re-attach carrier plate. Mind you mine is a Briggs and Stratton, and would be completely different to this mower.

    why are you doing things backwards? loosen the belt tension spring, then pull the belt off and take the pulleys off, i dont understand the need to skip steps just because, you need to inspect that tension spring anyway for slack or if its too tight. which could be a reason as to why the belt itself was skuffed up on top, just as much as the pulleys could be out of alignment.

    I wouldn’t let you work on any machinery. Your lack of mechanical knowledge is worrying. You see the 2 small holes in the pulley? You use those with the correct puller to remove the pulley.

    • @MachineryRestorer
      @MachineryRestorer 13 дней назад

      I'm fully aware of the holes. I have used harmonic pullers many times. These pulleys are super stuck, and that type of puller doesn't help.

    Love the videos….word of advice, get rid of the flat steel rule when cutting using a knife and get yourself a metal safety rule (it has a “M” shaped profile). I sliced the end of my finger off when the knife slipped and ran across the metal rule.
